Infrared wavelength is only part of night plate capture; camera response, beam coverage and installation distance shape the lighting choice.

Specify the exact illuminator and its tested working distance with the proposed camera. A general night-vision range says little about plate detail at the chosen exposure. Wavelength, beam coverage, alignment and camera response need to be considered together.
The quotation should also make clear whether the lighting is built into the camera or supplied as a separate unit.
Dedicated night capture grew around the retroreflective behaviour of many vehicle plates. These surfaces return much of the incoming light towards its source.
The camera and illumination therefore need to work as a combination. An advertised surveillance night-vision range describes a different task from capturing readable moving characters.
A separate infrared illuminator is not always needed. A plate-capture camera may already include suitable lighting for the intended position, distance and exposure.
Where an external unit is proposed, its power supply and alignment become additional installation responsibilities. Moving the capture point may also change what lighting is necessary.
The component specification should identify whether the illuminator uses 850 nm or 940 nm, its beam pattern and the conditions behind its stated range. Neither wavelength alone establishes recognition distance or brightness. Sensor response, optical filters and exposure all affect the usable arrangement.
An external light placed close to the camera can help the returned light reach the lens. Beam width matters too: a broad beam spreads light beyond the plate area, while a narrow one may leave part of a turning vehicle's path unlit. Position and coverage deserve as much attention as wavelength.
Use samples from the darkest intended operating conditions, with the proposed exposure. Include bright plates and nearby reflective surfaces to reveal excessive brightness. The commissioning record should show the actual camera, light, distance and alignment used, so the result has a clear physical context.
SolarLink scopes supported cameras around the fixed-site view and operating conditions. The lighting details belong to the exact supplied camera arrangement.
Its edge architecture does not specify an infrared wavelength or illumination distance. Those details need to be established as part of the particular installation.
