What evidence should support encryption statements?

Encryption statements need evidence for the actual installation: protection in transit and storage, key management and administrator access. Cameras, local appliances, backups and downloaded evidence all belong in that review.

A tender response naming TLS 1.3 or AES-256 is a starting point. It does not explain certificate handling, who can use the keys or which connections are covered.

Every connection creates another boundary

Parking images once stayed close to a protected cabinet. Networked cameras can now send them through switches, appliances, hosted services and staff devices. Each transfer and stored copy has its own security configuration.

Encryption protects those boundaries, while keys and account permissions determine who can recover readable information. The algorithm's name describes one part of that arrangement, rather than the whole design.

Match protection to the complete architecture

Identifiable records need protection wherever they travel or remain stored. Prescribing one protocol label for every device may overlook other suitable arrangements. Supported secure transport, network segmentation and controlled exports need to be considered together.

These controls also sit alongside collection limits and account management. Encrypted storage does not remove the need to restrict staff searches or promptly withdraw access when a person's role changes.

Check the stream and the downloaded copy

An encrypted dashboard connection says little about the camera stream on the local network. It also does not explain what protects an image downloaded to a laptop. Map each connection and stored copy to its protection mechanism and responsible owner.

The security review should cover certificate expiry, key rotation, credential revocation and recovery after device loss. Include offline disks and backup restores. Deployment evidence is needed for protocol versions and storage encryption, rather than extrapolating from the public cloud connection.

What Aero Ranger's policy establishes

Aero Ranger describes encrypted transfers and storage, role permissions, logged access and logical separation of customer data. These published controls provide relevant material for a CORE security review and help frame the deployment questions.

The actual cipher suites, key responsibilities and connected-device coverage still need evidence. The policy alone does not verify TLS 1.3 and AES-256 across every camera and node in an installation.
