Temporary permits and paper plates need clear validity, an approved assistance route and records that distinguish staff checks from camera reads.

Temporary permits and paper plates need handling suited to the actual document. Test expected formats in the proposed lane, and provide an approved credential or assistance route for documents the recognition system cannot read or support.
A handwritten window permit should not be assumed to provide a durable vehicle identity. If staff enter an identifier manually, its origin and expiry need to remain visible instead of making it look like an ordinary camera result.
Temporary documents were used as visible evidence before automated parking records. Their appearance and purpose can differ substantially from a permanent metal plate.
A machine-readable temporary registration, a handwritten movement document and a parking permit are distinct credentials; reducing them all to plate strings loses the conditions under which each is valid.
A temporary process is useful for replacement vehicles, deliveries and short visits outside the normal recognition path. Reception-issued credentials or attended admission may be sufficient.
A separate document-recognition project is only worth considering when reading those particular documents is an evidenced operating requirement, rather than an assumed part of buying a plate reader.
For each expected document, record the issuing authority, format and validity period. Controlled testing should include window reflections, orientation and the position of the identifier. A value checked by a staff member belongs in the record as a staff observation, with its reference and expiry, rather than being labelled as a successful ALPR read.
Consider renewal, replacement and an unreadable departure together. A window permit expiring on Friday must not become an indefinite entitlement because the exit camera cannot read it. Assistance should use only the information needed for that task, without copying unrelated identity documents or hiding the reason a manual record was created.
Aero Ranger CORE permits connect the holder, vehicle, category, dates and history for authorised review. This suits an entitlement whose validity must be checked independently of a camera reading.
The required credential fields, expiry behaviour and any lane connection need validation in the chosen configuration. The permit workflow does not establish OCR of handwritten transit papers or window documents.
