Before you display this sign

This is an adaptable ANPR information notice, not a prescribed UK traffic sign, an ICO-approved design or a guarantee of compliance. Yellow and black are a design choice. There is no claim that this precise layout is legally mandated.

Replace every bracketed field with accurate information. Identify the actual controller, not simply the equipment supplier. Explain the real purpose, provide a working contact route and link to an accessible privacy notice. Remove template wording from a final production design after completing your review.

Review the whole deployment: purpose and lawful basis, necessity, proportionality, DPIA where appropriate, data accuracy, access, retention, rights and any connected providers. A visible camera or a sticker cannot replace those arrangements.

Choose an appropriate size, location and number of notices for your operation. Test readability at the point people need the information, safely and without distracting road users. Consider both site information and mobile or vehicle notices. A small sticker or website alone may not provide meaningful awareness.

Covert monitoring is not defined by dashboard mounting. Truly covert activity may involve different legal powers and safeguards. This template is for transparent, routine operations, not an authorisation for secret surveillance.

Checked against ICO guidance on 29 October 2026. ICO says the guidance is under review following the Data (Use and Access) Act. Recheck current guidance and ask the responsible privacy adviser to approve the wording, placement and operation before use.
